Festival Square

Manchester Museum

Reopened in February 2023 following a £15m transformation, Manchester Museum has expanded with a two-storey extension, new exhibition hall, South Asia and Chinese Culture galleries, which join its much-loved dinosaur and Egyptology collections.

Mayfield Park

The first new park to open in Manchester for
100 years, Mayfield Park spans 6.5 acres, offering 146 new trees, natural planting which supports fish and biodiversity, as well as an impressive children’s play area. After your visit, stop by the adjacent Freight Island for a bite to eat.

Aviva Studios

Aviva Studios, home to Factory International, opened in October 2023 following a successful preview during the Manchester International Festival 2023. The colossal space will host new, cutting-edge work across art, theatre, live music, dance, and more.

Castlefield Viaduct

The National Trust has taken the first 330m of a long-abandoned Grade II-listed railway bridge to create Castlefield Viaduct, a new urban park reminiscent of New York’s The High Line. Following an initial trial, the project has been extended, with intention to expand the park to up to 1km.

Northern Roots

With an ambition to be the UK’s largest urban farm and eco project, Northern Roots is set on 160 acres of land just outside Oldham in Greater Manchester. Future plans for the site include a visitor centre with shop and café, outdoor swimming, beekeeping, cycle trails and a farm.

Rochdale Town Hall

A £16m restoration of one of Britain’s finest civic buildings has now completed to allow the public to fully explore the building. The Grade I listed building opened in 1871 and symbolises the town’s industrial standing in the textile trade.
