This year’s River Festival will take place from March 13 to 15 under the theme River Peace, River Prosperity.
Deputy Battambang governor Soeun Bunrith told The Post on Wednesday that the authorities are preparing stands for the exhibition along Sangkae River next week.
Currently, there is a total of 330 booths for the exhibition, which aims to boost products in the province.
“Local products and those from small- and medium-sized enterprises will be showcased at this event which aims to attract more local tourists and show the potential of products in the province,” he said.
Bunrith estimates that the exhibition will attract more than one million local tourists during the three-day event, and that producers from Thailand would also join in.
Ministry of Tourism spokesman Top Sopheak said it has many booths, including 50 just for street food.
“We want to promote local products such as agriculture, handicrafts and tourism products besides helping the local people to earn an income,” he said.
Cambodia Association of Travel Agents president Chhay Sivlin said the event will help boost awareness of the province’s potential, especially in the tourist sector.
