The Westin St. Francis |
Root Beer Floats are sure to win over the hearts of San Francisco residents, as The Westin St. Francis is set to host an annual fundraiser on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in support of non-profit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Held in the Landmark Lobby from 1-3 p.m., locals, visitors, and guests can enjoy complimentary root beer floats in exchange for a donation to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital - Benioff Children’s Hospital. Root Beer Float Day is a nod to Marriott’s beginningswhen company founder, Bill Marriott, Sr., and his wife Alice opened two root beer stands in Washington, D.C., in the 1920s.
During the week of August 5-9, Marriott properties throughout the United States and Canada will sell root beer floats with the proceeds going directly to local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The Westin St. Francis will have a variety of specialty root beer floats available for purchase all week in Caruso’s for $5 ($14 with Jack Daniels) plus boxed root beer flavored macarons ($7). Michael Mina’s Clock Bar will kick it up a notch with a root beer float with vanilla vodka, two scoops of ice cream, root beer, chocolate straws, and two cookies ($19; $10 for the non-alcoholic version). One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
“We wouldn’t be the organization we are today without the support of Marriott as our longest-standing corporate partner,” said John Lauck, president and CEO, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Marriott associates and guests are among the most passionate fundraisers we have.”
Marriott associates and guests have raised $120 million in the last 35 years. The company fundraises through a variety of events and activities.
