NSW Country and Outback to Star Across Australia on Sydney Weekender

Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres today announced that some of the State's tourism attractions and foodie hot spots are set to feature on television in a special episode of Channel Seven's popular travel show Sydney Weekender.

Sydney Weekender travels throughout NSW to explore the best places to stay, eat and play, inspiring viewers to make the most of their weekend and immerse themselves in the incredible offerings of Australia's leading tourism State.

The episode will highlight a number of the Country and Outback's must-do experiences, exploring Lightning Ridge, Orange, Tenterfield and Bathurst throughout the show.

Mr Ayres said the filming opportunity was secured by the NSW Government's tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW and is an example of the Government's strategy to triple overnight visitor expenditure in NSW by 2030 in action.

“The NSW Government is determined to continue turbocharging rural and regional tourism and share the best of the bush and our wonderful local produce with the world.

“Securing media coverage, including segments on popular TV shows like Sydney Weekender, helps to promote our State's great tourism products to a wide audience and inspires people to look to NSW when planning their next short-break or longer escape, ultimately driving business for the local economy,” Mr Ayres said.

Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole encouraged locals to tune in to see their region star on the big screen.

“It's great to see Bathurst among the great bush destinations featured on Sydney Weekender. Our State remains at the top of the tourism industry in Australia and thanks to NSW Government funding support, we are able to showcase our impressive rural and regional destinations and encourage viewers to look to regional NSW when booking their next holiday,” Mr Toole said.

Tune into Channel Seven at 5.30pm on Sunday 25 August 2019 to watch the episode.
