Goldfish has long been associated with Japanese summer culture. It is believed that goldfish were kept by nobles and samurai, but they became popular with the wider population since Edo Period (1603-1868).
"Tokyo GoldFish Wonderland 2019" is now on at 5th floor of Sumida Aquarium until 31st Oct with a nostalgic theme. In addition to pretty goldfish, there are advertising signboards and daily goods from the Showa Era (1926-1989), taking you back to the good old days.
Synchorized animations and sounds give a "retro-cute" ambience. It makes for a great setting to snap insta-worthy photos wearing your yukata.
