New hotel opening later this year in Boise
If you’re looking to visit Boise next year, be sure to include a walk or bike ride along the Boise River Greenbelt, tour the Old Idaho Penitentiary Site, or visit the World Center for Birds of Prey. A new hotel called Hilton Homes2Suites is set to open later this year or early next year. This all-suite 150-room hotel in Boise will provide leisure features including an indoor pool and basketball hoop, plus a bar, lounge and patio space with an indoor/outdoor fireplace. The hotel will be the ideal place to relax after exploring Boise’s Botanical Garden or State Capital Building.

Eat and drink
Diablo & Sons Saloon, Boise

Diablo & Sons Saloon is a sophisticated restaurant located in Boise that specialises in gourmet tacos, thirst-quenching lagers and custom cocktails. This new restaurant opened late last year and is styled like a western saloon, featuring unique Lukr tap spouts from the Czech Republic. The menu is just as interesting and well thought out, with house-made tortillas made from the restaurant’s own corn crop and 10 different types of tacos including Chile Strip, Crispy Pork, Lava Lake Lamb, and Fiasco Bean.

The Pioneer Saloon, Ketchum
This is an old-time saloon in Ketchum where the locals gather for tender beef ribs, flavoursome steaks, and delicious seafood. The Pioneer Saloon opened in the 1940s as a gambling casino and was eventually redesigned as a restaurant. It aims to reflect Idaho’s history through an authentic saloon atmosphere with natural woods and period firearms, while offering new ideas to Ketchum’s restaurant atmosphere. The saloon is full of interesting artefacts including antique bullet boards made in the 1890s, western art, posters and sculptures, a collection of memorabilia from the time Ernest Hemingway spent in Sun Valley, and American Indian Artefacts including arrowhead boards.

Play
Jaialdi, Boise

Every five years, Idaho’s capital of Boise hosts a huge Basque festival called Jaialdi which celebrates Basque culture through music, dancing and folklore. This festival will be held next year in 2020 on July 28-August 2 and will feature talented Basque dancers, musicians, and singers from all over the world. Popular folk music band Korrontzi will perform and feature ancient Basque instruments like the alboka and txalaparta to bring a modern interpretation to the traditional Basque sound, as well as Esne Beltza whose exciting music style spans from hip hop, reggae and soul to rock, folk and cumbia.

Featured accommodation - Shore Lodge, McCall
Shore Lodge is a family favourite lodging experience in McCall (an easy 2 hour scenic drive from Boise) that has 77 guest suites providing unrivalled views of Payette Lake and nearby mountains. Step inside McCall’s spa, The Cove, for a relaxing day of massages, facials, manicures, and serene immersion pools.
