Sri Lanka Tourism wins Global award at Tourism Expo China

The rejuvenated outfit of Sri Lanka Tourism giving leadership to the country at the global stage has gone on to win a converted award " Best Eco Tourism Destination" at the World Tourism Expo in Shanghai China. 

The awards were received by the Sri Lanka counsel general for Sri Lanka Ms Poornima Gunesekera and the Market Head for Sri Lanka at Sri Lanka Tourism Chinthaka Liyanarachchi.

The World Tourism Expo that takes place annually in Shanghai and co-hosted by Shanghai Municipal Tourism and VNU exhibition Europe attracts around 45000 top travel and tourism professionals from around the world with over 600 exhibits which is a sought after event in the Chinese calendar that is a modern hot spot for global tourism. 

The Chairman Sri Lanka tourism commented that Sri Lanka must become a top 20 tourist destination within the next five years given the national focus on the industry and the strong demand generation that will come to place on the near future. We have grown by 81.8% from the visitors from China as at end April 2015 but I am very keen to see these numbers been reflected on the formal sector occupancy of Sri Lanka he said.
