EVOLVE 2019 – LOOKING AFTER YOU

A recent study by CareerCast identified that an Event CoOrdinator is listed in sixth place of the most stressful jobs in 2019 behind Military Personnel, Firefighter, Airline Pilot, Police Officer and Broadcaster.

Robyn Johnson CEO of MEA commented. “this is hardly surprising as events are very deadline driven, there are high expectations and minute levels of detail. You experience great disparity in emotions with high peaks when you have delivered the impossible and low troughs when you are required to perform a miracle when things don’t go to plan. Events is not for everyone – you just have to love what you do”.

The EVOLVE 2019 program has recognised that work/life balance is key to working in the events industry and designed a wellness and personal development track to provide some mechanisms that you can apply to achieve this holy grail. It will also include sessions on developing your personal and professional skills to assist you in life and your career.

To better under the working of stress, Peter Bliss will take you through a very practical and easy to understand session that will change the way you look at stress that could ultimately change your life. If you knew what is happening in your brain during stress and knew the power you have to influence and change it - would you? Peter will teach some simple techniques to influence it and change the way the brain reacts.

There will also be a very powerful session on achieving goals. Kemi Nekvapil will present on how it is vital that individual values align with values of the organisation. This leads to better engagement, a happier team, better outcomes and a loyal workforce. Kemi will talk on the power of boundaries and how set them in your career and personal life.

Lyndell Wills, a veteran of the Australian events industry, will take you on a personal journey of how she was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and how this changed her life overnight. Lyndell was running her own successful event management company with staff and a list of clients as well as being a mother of two teenage girls. Lyndell will share with you the lessons learned both from the business and personal perspective. This will be a powerful and emotional session that will have you smelling roses.

We all spend too much time on our screens living in this digital age, and we are constantly challenged by information overload, constant distractions, doing more with less, and suffering from loss of focus and fatigue. Vannessa McCamley from LinkSuccess, will give you some insights into neuroscience research on how to harness your brain to create better ways to gain perspective. She will give some tips and tools to intentionally reduce distractions and improve focus.
