HOTEL G WELCOMES SEAFOOD HAVEN AYALA RESTAURANT

Hotel G
Hotel G, San Francisco’s boutique lifestyle hotel, is thrilled to announce the official opening of Ayala restaurant into the culinary scene of Union Square. Just steps away from the city’s best entertainment, art, and fashion, Hotel G is now home to the stylish new neighborhood eatery serving the finest seafood in San Francisco.

Under the direction of the Chef-Partner Bill Montagne (formerly of Le Bernardin and Nico Osteria) and Executive Chef Melissa Perfit (former Top Chef Contestant and Executive Chef of San Francisco’s Bar Crudo), the 120-seat Ayala features a vibrant, playful dining and drinking experience that showcases the West Coast’s finest seafood in a warm, fun environment.

Named after Juan De Ayala, the first European captain known to have entered the San Francisco Bay, the bright and airy 1,400-square-foot restaurant, which incorporates a contemporary Mediterranean-inspired design, encompasses three distinct dining experiences: the Oysterette, Dining Room and Raw Bar, with total seating for up to 94 guests.

The Oysterette
For casual diners looking to savor oysters with a cocktail or glass of bubbles, the Oysterette offers a lounge setting with a comfortable velvet banquette and marble top tables for lower dining in addition to a high dining rail with bar stools for casual side-by-side seating. A natural extension of the bar, the Oysterette is surrounded by custom white-tiled flooring creating a natural contrast with the luxurious black and gray marble bar.

The Dining Room
Delivering a more traditional dining experience, the Dining Room is an intimate space separated from the Oysterette by a glass partition, allowing privacy from the rest of the restaurant. The Dining Room features high ceilings with chandeliers illuminating navy banquettes and wood tables.

The Raw Bar
Defined by arched ceilings, the Raw Bar presents a unique dining experience with a standing communal bar where guests can watch Ayala’s skilled team preparing a variety of shellfish and crudo dishes. Nestled amid the Raw Bar, two semi-enclosed areas are available for intimate gatherings or semi-private events. Arched ceilings, deep tufted banquettes and warmly lit brass sconces illuminate the hand-plastered walls, creating a cozy enclave and affording guests a more secluded dining experience.

Inspired by their deep appreciation for, and expertise in, fine seafood, Montagne and Perfit’s diverse menu begins with a selection of seasonal raw plates and local crudos showcasing Ayala’s commitment to superior quality and seasonality. A major highlight includes the cured fish board, a unique twist on a salumi board which has become a staple in San Francisco, where guests can select from locally sourced seafood such as black cod, octopus, and trout. Ayala also features hearty entrees with options to be enjoyed solo or family-style including house-made pastas, meats, and whole fish preparations. Additional not-to-miss dishes include: Nori Spaghettini with Dungeness crab and white miso; Cioppino Verde with mussels, prawns, squid, Dungeness crab and tomatillo-poblano broth; and Dry Aged New York Strip with potato pave and tropea onion confit.

The wine program, curated by Wine Director Nick Tilly and General Manager Essam Kardosh, accentuates both old and new world coastal vineyards with careful selections, primarily from smaller producers working in an organic, biodynamic, or “natural” fashion. Ayala’s cocktail and martini program, overseen by acclaimed Bar Director Julian Cox in collaboration with the culinary team, pairs spirits by boutique producers with seasonal ingredients from local farms to showcase a rotating nautical-themed list, including large-format drinks intended to complement the seafood menu with Navy strength gins and rums, East Indian Sherry, port, Madeira, vermouth and vodka.

Ayala is located at 398 Geary Boulevard in San Francisco, adjacent to Hotel G. Dinner is served nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Martini Hour is available Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Reservations can be made by calling 415-374-7971 or visiting www.ayalarestaurant.com.
