Ha Long International Passenger Harbour welcomed its first ever 5-star cruise liner as the US Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines’ ship docked in the harbour.
The vessel had over 3,000 tourists on board when it docked in the harbour located in Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh on November 27.
The cruise ship had departed from Hong Kong (China), carrying more than 3,000 passengers and crew from a variety of different nationalities to visit Ha Long Bay and other tourist attractions in Quang Ninh.
The docking of the first international cruise ship in Ha Long harbour has marked a turning point for the tourism sector in Quang Ninh, the catalyst of which was the opening of Ha Long International Passenger Port.
The harbour is the first specialized passenger port in the country and has been licensed by the Vietnam Maritime Administration under the Ministry of Transport. Sun Group have invested over VND1 trillion into the harbour which is designed to receive the world’s largest cruise vessels.
Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of Quang Ninh province People’s Committee, said the operation of Ha Long international passenger harbour marked an important milestone in attracting more visitors to Ha Long Bay.
The operation of the harbour will ensure the safety of both tourists and shipping companies, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the area.
