Events boost tourism throughout Queensland

Events will continue to drive visitation across the state, thanks to a funding boost from Tourism and Events Queensland's Destination Events Program (QDEP). Local events are often the heart and soul of many towns across the state, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the region and get a local taste of Queensland's destinations.

Round nine of the QDEP program saw more than $484,000 awarded to 27 events across nine regions in Queensland, including RedFest - Redland Strawberry Festival, the Spirit of Bundaberg Festival and Jungle Love Festival. Since 2015, QDEP has invested more than $5.8 million in destination events throughout Queensland, with the State Government's funding investment increasing from $2 million to $3 million in 2018-19.

The next round of funding opens on 18 July for events taking place from May 2019-May 2020.
