A local invitation to Great Keppel Island

The next phase of Tourism and Events Queensland’s ‘Find your perfect next’ campaign is underway, with the focus on Capricorn’s Great Keppel Island.

The 90-second video, featuring Great Keppel Island local Geoff Mercer, is being promoted together with a series of destination blogs aimed at key target markets in South East Queensland, inviting visitors to explore one of Queensland’s tourism gems.

The campaign is jointly funded by Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Capricorn Enterprise.

TEQ Chief Executive Officer Leanne Coddington said the video was part of a series being progressively released to inspire visitors to ‘Find your perfect next’ holiday in Queensland.

“Now more than ever, travellers want authentic experiences and Queensland is the best address on earth to explore the hidden local secrets of our spectacular destinations,” Ms Coddington said.

“High-profile Capricorn locals Busy Marou feature in the ‘Find your perfect next’ campaign and now people can hear from Geoff, whose love for Great Keppel Island shines through in this video.

“I expect the passion Geoff shares for his island home will give visitors another reason to experience the Southern Great Barrier Reef.

“He shares a local’s tip on watching a beautiful sunrise over Keppel Bay and exploring the island from a different perspective.

“Having real locals tell their story, share their secrets and invite travellers to explore their part of the world is such a genuine, Queensland approach and is what makes this series so special.”

Capricorn Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Mary Carroll said Geoff had a natural ability to make every visitor to Great Keppel Island feel special.

“Geoff’s passion for Great Keppel Island is the real deal and this emotional connection is what busy people are searching for in their holidays,” Ms Carroll said.

“This authenticity is also reflected in our high-profile locals Thomas Busby and Jeremy Marou in the new Queensland campaign. We are so very proud of these three passionate locals.

“Great Keppel Island and the Southern Great Barrier Reef is the jewel in the crown of our destination and we are so very fortunate to live here.

“Partnering with TEQ for this initiative provides a multiplier effect to our limited resources by reaching markets we cannot reach alone.”
