Secured for another three years by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, the event is recognised as one of the largest in the region. Last year’s showcase attracted more than 12,900 international, domestic overnight and day trip visitors to the Illawarra who spent more than $1.4 million.
Next year’s event promises to be bigger and better with the introduction of a new tradeshow component – Aviatex, which will showcase the latest products, equipment and services from Australian aviation companies.
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said, “We are excited to be continuing our support for Wings Over Illawarra which will not only boost the local visitor economy, but provide visitors with an opportunity to take a short break and further explore the region’s picturesque country towns and beautiful white sandy beaches.”
Aviatex 2017 will be held at the Illawarra Regional Airport from 4-7 May and Wings Over Illawarra will take place from 6-7 May 2017.
