FREE KIDS & FAMILY FILMS, UNDER THE STARS

  • Night Owls Film Festival Announces January Program

Little Darlings Night Owls Kid’s Film Festival has a HOOT of a summer holiday program in store for families and kids, 6 – 25 January at the Village Green Darling Quarter. The big screen will show 26 of the hottest feature films and 17 shorts, as well as live entertainment and scrumptious eats that kids and their adult friends won’t want to miss.

From 6:30pm the fun begins with a cool kid’s friendly short film presented in partnership with Little Big Shots. Little Big Shots is Australia’s major children’s short film festival and features the best in local and international shorts, some of which have actually been created by talented kid filmmakers.

Later on is the main event, and the choices are just too good. From the 2016 remake of The Jungle Book, Shaun the Sheep Movie, to Tinkerbell and the Legend of the Neverbeast, Bridge to Terabithia, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Kung Fu Panda 3, Book of Life, The Good Dinosaur, Zootopia and Pan. The biggest and best tales will screen for FREE, so there’s no reason not to come back again and again!

Some evenings feature After-Hours screenings from 8:30pm, so bigger kids can catch box office winners from Hunt for the Wilderpeople, to MARVEL tales: Captain America, The Wolverine, Iron Man 3, Thor 2: The Dark World, Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and much more, also completely FREE.

Abigail Campion, Retail & Marketing Manager for Darling Quarter said, “The Night Owls Kids Film Fest is my favourite time of year at Darling Quarter. The Village Green just comes alive with all sorts of incredible adventures and fun. It’s just great to be able to offer families with kids of all ages a night out that’s completely cost free. This will be the 6th time we’ve hosted Night Owls, and we’re really proud of this gift,” she said.

To get yourself Festival ready, all you have to do is jump on the Darling Quarter website, check out the program and decide which films you and the kids are busting to see.

Now all you have to do is wait for January to roll around, round up the kids, family and friends, pack a picnic, or don’t bother; there’s plenty of scrumptious dinner options from sushi (Umi Sushi & Udon) to steaks (Stacks Taverna and Bar), Thai (Nok Nok Thai Eating House), Churasco (Braza Churrascaria), Fish & Chips (Taste), Pizza (Vesta), and Gelato (Gelatissimo) and Chocolate (Guylian); and jump on the train, bus or car (there’s plenty of parking).

This year Night Owls are giving film fans the opportunity to enjoy outdoor cinema all year round with a competition to win an outdoor home cinema pack by My Outdoor Theatre (valued at $1,499.00). The epic prize includes DVD projector, 100 inch inflatable screen, Bluetooth speaker with sub-woofer, tripod and base, and protective storage carry bags. To enter the draw to win, like the Darling Quarter Facebook page and share the Night Owls post or take a pic of your family at Night Owls and post to Instagram with #Welovenightowls.
