ILTM Japan 2016 - Opening Forum Line Up Announced

A who’s who of Japan’s luxury travel experts and business leaders discuss the array of opportunities for the future of Japanese luxury travel

ILTM Japan 2016, taking place from 29 February to 2 March at the Conrad Hotel Tokyo, has announced the keynote speakers for the event’s Opening Forum, which takes place on Monday 29 February at 5.00pm.

Yoshimi Nakajima, Vice-President Proprietary Card Services, Japan of American Express International will launch the proceedings by addressing “The Affluent Traveller - learnings from American Express premium card members”. Synonymous with luxury, American Express provides bespoke travel concierge services to its cardholders. Ms Nakajima will use the insight gained from her strategic role at AMEX to explore luxury travel trends in the context of Japanese inbound and outbound travel, identifying customer needs and preferences through direct client feedback and patterns of behaviour.

Jesper Koll, Japan Director of Research at JP Morgan – a popular speaker at ILTM Japan 2015 - will take the stage to explore Japan’s economic strength, addressing potential business opportunities whilst assessing possible risks. Koll’s presentation -entitled “Beyond Abenomics: The Bullcase for Japan's Economy”, will position Japan as the next true economic superpower through the strength of its private sector: the strong position of its banks, innovative companies and the rise of the New Middle Class across the country. He aims to “inspire businesses to seize this exciting time for the Japanese economy as a time for real growth and development.”

Finally, Executive Managing Director of Mori Trust Co., Ltd and President and CEO of Mori Trust Hotels and Resorts Co., Ltd., Ms. Mikawo Date will discuss Luxury Travel: The Investors View. The Mori Trust has been developing luxury resorts in Japan since 2005, including the Suiran, a Luxury Collection in Kyoto, which has become an icon of success for the Japanese tourism industry. Ms. Date’s keynote speech will cover the current global movement of increased inbound tourism to Japan, as well as considering the future of luxury hotels through the lens of the Mori Trust’s most recent experiences of developments in Kyoto.

Alison Gilmore, Director of the ILTM Portfolio says: “We are delighted that ILTM Japan 2016 will attract such a prestigious list of speakers. Each will provide tangible business advice that could result in real fiscal benefits for the luxury travel professionals present at the event’s Opening Forum. It is rare to bring together in one place, on one stage, such a distinguished group of industry leaders.”
