2015 Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) winners announced

2015 best Airlines of the Year 
The second Mekong Tourism Alliance Awards (MTAA) were awarded during the Opening Ceremony of ITE HCMC held last night at the Gem Center in HCMC. 

There are many wonderful businesses promoting tourism in Mekong Tourism Alliance countries. The MTAA is organised to celebrate and acknowledge the best of these. This must be a hard choice for the panel of judges to make as there are so many to choose from.

The awards were established for the first time last year are given to foster a greater sense of pride and achievement for professionals and organisations in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. They serve as recognition for quality and excellence in tourism and hospitality in these countries. Tourism is growing in all of these countries as more people discover their rich heritage, culture, food, fashion and festivals.

A representative from each of the winning business went up on the stage and was presented with a floral garland and trophy.  

The MTAA 2015 winners are:


1. The best Airlines of the Year:

  • Cambodia: Cambodia Angkor Air.
  • Myanmar: Myanmar Airways International.
  • Thailand: Thai Airways International PLC.
  • Viet Nam: Vietnam Airlines

2. The best Outbound Tour Operator of the Year

  • Cambodia: Sophiya Travel & Tours
  • Myanmar: Shan Yoma Travel & Tour Co. Ltd
  • Viet Nam: Vietravel 

3. The best Inbound Tour Operator of the Year

  • Cambodia: Great Angkor Tours
  • Myanmar: Adventure Myanmar Tours & Incentives
  • Thailand: Donna Tour Co. Ltd
  • Viet Nam: Saigontourist

4. The best 5 Star Hotel of the Year

  • Cambodia: Naga World
  • Myanmar: Kempinski Hotel Nay Pyi Taw
  • Thailand: Pullman Bangkok Hotel G
  • Viet Nam: Hotel Majestic Saigon & Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake

5. The best Resort of the Year

  • Cambodia: Sokha Hotels & Resorts
  • Myanmar: Aye Yar River View Resort
  • Thailand: Centara Hotels & Resorts
  • Viet Nam: Vinpearl Land Nha Trang

6. The Attractive Tangible Heritage of the Year

  • Cambodia: Angkor Wat
  • Myanmar: Bagan
  • Thailand: Ayutthaya Historical Park
  • Viet Nam: Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.
