Haikou to expand free Wi-Fi network across city

Soon it will be much easier for residents and tourists to access WiFi across Haikou as the local government will be expanding free WiFi network access to more public locations.

In 2008, Haikou proposed the “Wireless Haikou” project, which was approved by experts the same year.

Now more free Wi-Fi services will be available across Haikou soon, as plans are in place to expand the city Wi-fi coverage.

Free Wi-Fi services have been regarded as one of the key marketing projects in Haikou. In some coffee houses and restaurants, business owners now offer free Wi-Fi services for customers.

Currently, several public street wifi hotspots have been set up in Haikou’s public bike rental kiosks, and provide wifi covering 200 meters around the kiosks.
