Santa Clause. Children will enjoy Santa's letter writing workshop,

The Design Exchange Market
Sunday 16 December
The Design Exchange (www.thedesignexchange.com.au),
held within Ballarat's iconic Mining Exchange, brings together
independent designers and contemporary artists from across Victoria and
New South Wales at a market that offers distinctive adults and
children's clothes, jewellery, ceramics, homewares and special gifts.
With over 40 designers selling their wares, shoppers will be amazed by
the caliber of goods as they leisurely browse through the market.
Visitors can be tempted by delicious food while being entertained by
local musicians. A gold coin donation will be collected at the door with
100% of proceeds donated to Support4Cancer.
Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championship
Wednesday 9 - Sunday 13 January
For
the sixth consecutive year, the Ballarat region is hosting one of the
most prestigious events on the Australian cycling calendar, the Cycling Australia Road National Championships (www.roadnats.org.au) from
January 9 to 13, 2013. Affectionately known amongst Australia's elite
cyclists as "the Nationals", the annual event attracts over 15,000
supporters as well as Australian Tour de France competitors each year
who battle it out to be their nation's champion and to wear the green
and gold. The six day event provides cycling fans the opportunity to see
Australia's top cyclists up close, while enjoying race side picnics and
scheduled race day activities such as the Family Fun day.
Summer Sundays
Sunday 6, 13, 20, 27 January
Visitors are invited to escape the summer heat at Ballarat's free annual music event, Summer Sundays (www.ballarat.vic.gov.au),
held every Sunday during January from 5:00pm till 8:00pm in the
Ballarat Botanical Gardens, on the foreshore of Lake Wendouree. With
picnic basket in hand attendees can enjoy a range of entertainment from
blues and roots to jazz and rock and everything in between.
Organs of the Ballarat Goldfields Music Festival
Friday 11 - Sunday 20 January
The peaceful and historically rich Ballarat region hosts for the 18th year the Organs of the Ballarat Goldfield Music Festival (www.ballarat.com/organs) from
11 to 20 January. Visitors are invited to listen to beautiful classical
music amid a fascinating range of settings in and around Ballarat. From
Her Majesty's Theatre to St. Patrick's Cathedral and the garden of
"Opononui" the sounds of Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky as well as a
range of vocal performances can be enjoyed.
Ballarat Beer Festival
Saturday 19 January
Visitors are invited to celebrate the second annual Ballarat Beer Festival (www.ballaratbeerfestival.com.au)
on the lawns of Ballarat's City Oval on 19 January. The Ballarat Beer
Festival will combine Australia's best boutique brews with fine food and
summer music and entertainment to create an atmosphere that can be
enjoyed by beer experts, summer festival lovers and families alike.
Visitors will be able to learn home brewing secrets from local craft
brewers, taste-test new beers, learn more about the beer making process,
visit catering stalls that sell food to match and sample local wines.
Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival
Friday 15 - Sunday 17 February
Visitors are invited to Ballarat for the first annual Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival from 15 to 17 February (www.ballaratbeat.com.au).
Showcasing an impressive number of standout international music acts
including The Desperados (USA) and Omar Romero (USA), as well as amazing
local artists such as The Re Chords (VIC) the Ballarat Beat Rockabilly
Festival will also be presenting "the grandest Rockabilly Burlesque show
the world has ever seen" with the crowing of Miss Burlesque Australia
2013 that is sure to get the crowd's attention. And of course, what
would a rockabilly weekend be without classic cars and hot rods lining
the streets, illustration artists from every corner of the globe as well
as from Ballarat's own backyard, and enough trade stalls containing a
huge range of specialty clothing, music, magazines and old world
trinkets to fuel that 50's vibe.
The Ballarat Swap Meet
Friday 22-Sunday 24 February
The
largest swap meet for used motor vehicle and motorbike parts and
memorabilia in Victoria the Ballarat Swap Meet is held on the last
weekend of February (www.ballaratswapmeet.com.au).
An annual event, the Ballarat Swap Meet offers visitors the opportunity
to trawl through over 2,000 stall holders to find everything from nuts
and bolts to wheels and headlight fittings.
