Richmond FC Go Zoom – Players Put Through Paces In Wildlife Dome

After its official opening on Thursday, Cairns City’s only centrally located wildlife park is now home to ZOOm - the world’s first Challenge Ropes Course inside a wildlife immersion exhibit. On the eve of its unveiling, 10 players from Richmond Football Club took time out of their week long, pre-season training camp to experience the adrenalin highs of ZOOm for themselves.

Situated in the Cairns Wildlife Dome on the roof of the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, the new attraction will consist of 65 elements of crossings and ziplines, including one that takes participants directly overGoliath, a 4 metre crocodile.

Director of Quest Queensland Elite Sports Training, David Arnfield said a fantastic afternoon was had by all.
“This was a great opportunity for the boys to experience something completely different that also happened to be a special preview of ZOOm – a world first whose opening has been long awaited and highly anticipated.

In another first for Far North Queensland, AFL’s Richmond Football Club chose Cairns for its pre-season training camp that saw a squad of 75 players, coaching staff and corporate members arrive in Cairns on Monday, 26 November. The group will remain in the region for a week, departing on Tuesday, 4 December. The itinerary incorporates four days of training in Cairns before the players and support staff participate in an 'Amazing Race’ style event that begins on Thursday, 29 November and covers ground between Cairns and Cape Tribulation.
