The Countdown is on - 5 days till the Jack!

Stars of the screen, stage and field flock to Grand Mercure Apartments, Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley to compete in the annual Jack Newton Celebrity Classic, Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th December to raise money for the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and Diabetes Australia.

Not your average round of golf, the Jack Newton Classic features celebrities, golfing pros and business types rubbing shoulders in a 36-hole pro-am tournament. The tournament offers a unique opportunity for amateurs to play with their golfing heroes and celebrities. This year's impressive line-up features names such as Pat Davern, Dean Brady, Nathan Green, Frass Dirani, Wally Lewis, Jack Newton himself and many more celebrities and professional golfers.

Whilst the celebrity-heavy tournament prides itself on promoting a fun, relaxed vibe for its participants, there is a real purpose behind it - with all proceeds duly donated to the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and Diabetes Australia.

Every year sees an increase in spectators young and old, on the hunt to spot their favourite celebrity, while enjoying the electric atmosphere of world class golf combined with infectious fun!

Entry for the general public is free, with a $6.00 sausage sizzle available on both days, and comes hot on the heels of school holidays when families are looking for inexpensive yet fun things to do in the lead up to Christmas. And in the fun competitive spirit of the event, Chief Operating Officer Mr Croke has the following advice for the tournament participants taking part in the action, in the words of Oscar Wilde, 'one should always play fairly when one has the winning cards.'

Round one tee off starts at 7.00am Tuesday 18th December, with round two also starting at 7.00am on Wednesday 19th December. Spectators are welcome anytime during the two days of competition.
