The St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Day will be held on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August at St Heliers, McCullys Gap Road, Muswellbrook, NSW, Australia. This is a weekend not to be missed, as this event just keeps getting better and better every year
Great entertainment will be provided for all spectators on both days. People can see the heavy horses compete in various events such as ridden and harness classes, ploughing, log snigging, obstacle courses, show ring classes, pumpkin snatch, slide and vehicle obstacle courses. On Sunday there will be an all breeds foal show with a parade of historical horse drawn vehicles and implements.
On both days there will be novelty events for kids, horseshoe throwing competition,mechanical horse driving competition, and freeze branding demonstrations and hay cart rides for children of any age.
From 5pm on Saturday Night a big community campfire & sign-along will be held. Everyone can join in around the fire to hear Richard Ray, a member of the Ray Boys, perform.
Refreshments and hot food available courtesy of Muswellbrook Lions Club. Numerous stalls will be displaying and selling old & new harness, heavy horse memorabilia, equine books, leatherwork, wood turning and other crafts. Entry is a Gold Coin donation.
The St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days are held on the farmlands of St. Heliers Correctional Centre, located about 10 minutes drive from Muswellbrook. From Muswellbrook head north on the New England Highway. Take the first right after you leave the town limits of Muswellbrook onto McCullys Gap road, then left onto the St. Heliers Road and follow the signs.
