The latest developments were highlighted during the 2026 Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef Tropical Showcase, an annual roadshow connecting Tropical North Queensland suppliers with meeting planners, professional conference organisers and incentive specialists across Australia.
This year’s showcase travelled to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and, for the first time, Adelaide, with 21 Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef members meeting with 135 event planners, professional conference organisers and incentive agents.

Among the major projects highlighted were the new Hilton Palm Cove Cairns Resort & Spa, the redevelopment of Double Island by Morris Group and the $85 million upgrade of Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
These projects are adding further depth to an already established business events offering across Cairns, Palm Cove, Port Douglas and the surrounding Great Barrier Reef region.
The Hilton Palm Cove Cairns Resort & Spa is being fully refurbished and is set to provide 140 rooms, two dining outlets, two bars, a kids club, fitness centre, spa and approximately 450 square metres of function and meeting space. Hilton's latest regional information indicates the resort is scheduled to open in September 2026.
For meeting planners, the addition of new accommodation and function space in Palm Cove provides another option for conferences, incentives, corporate retreats and smaller business gatherings.
