A New Era of Rail Tourism in Thailand
The State Railway of Thailand has designed the new rainy-season programme to encourage travellers to explore destinations beyond the country's traditional tourist hotspots.
Running throughout July, August and September, the nine journeys showcase Thailand at one of its most beautiful times of the year, when lush green landscapes, flowing waterfalls and cooler temperatures create ideal conditions for sightseeing.
The initiative supports the Thai Ministry of Transport's vision of expanding rail-based tourism while encouraging visitors to spend more time in regional destinations and contribute directly to local economies.
According to SRT Governor Anan Phonimdang, every journey has been designed to become part of the holiday experience, ensuring that the adventure begins the moment passengers board the train.

The KIHA 183 is a classic Japanese-built diesel railcar renowned for its nostalgic charm and panoramic journeys through some of Thailand's most scenic countryside. It offers travellers an authentic railway experience with comfortable seating and memorable landscapes throughout the journey.
For those seeking additional comfort, the premium SRT Royal Blossom provides luxurious day-trip experiences featuring upgraded interiors, spacious seating and high-quality onboard service. Six Scenic KIHA 183 Adventures
The KIHA 183 programme includes five overnight journeys and one one-day excursion, each focusing on a different region and travel theme.
The season began with the Pink Blossom Adventure in Chaiyaphum on 18–19 July, where travellers can admire the spectacular Siam tulip fields that bloom across the mountains during the rainy season.
Later in July, the Miracle of Faith Journey visited Saraburi to experience the unique Buddhist tradition of offering Dok Khao Phansa flowers, providing visitors with an authentic cultural experience.
August brings the Sea & Serenity Journey to Prachuap Khiri Khan, combining beautiful beaches, peaceful temples and a rare ordination hall constructed from sugar-palm wood.
Travellers seeking nature and entertainment can enjoy the River Adventure Escape to Kanchanaburi in September, featuring riverside scenery together with a live mini-concert set within the famous Sai Yok district.
The final overnight journey, Dragon Blessing Journey, explores Chonburi with traditional blessing ceremonies and attractions along Thailand's eastern coastline.
For those with limited time, the one-day Mystic Green Escape to Nakhon Nayok includes visits to the revered Luang Pho Pak Daeng temple and a scenic boat cruise through the picturesque Khao Chong Lom reservoir.

The Royal Blossom Green Escape travels to Saraburi, where visitors can experience landscapes often described as resembling the rolling countryside of New Zealand.
History enthusiasts will enjoy the Royal River of History itinerary to Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi. Highlights include Thailand's tallest stupa at Phra Pathom Chedi, the world-famous Bridge over the River Kwai and several important historical sites linked to the Second World War.
The Royal World Heritage Journey travels to Phetchabun, offering passengers an opportunity to explore ancient civilisations, remarkable cultural heritage and UNESCO-recognised attractions.
