The Sydney International Boat Show |
The Sydney International Boat Show opened today and will be open to the public until Sunday.
I went along today and saw the many exhibits inside the International Convention Centre Sydney & Cockle Bay Marina.
Of course if you have a boat, thinking about buying a boat, or just interested in boating the Show is well worthwhile seeing. I do not own a boat, but still found it fascinating to see what was on display in the halls and on the water.

Boats of all shapes and sizes were on display, from the low cost to what I would say are expensive. I saw one on display that you could grab at the bargain price of $6.5 million. Some were sleek, some chunky, some very modern looking and some old fashioned. Some were made of fibreglass, rubber, and wood. They all looked impressive, and you could walk on board for your brief opportunity of experiencing luxury boating (as long as you take your shoes off).

It was not just boats on display. To arrange the money to buy your dream boat the finance companies there would come in handy. Once you bought you boat you would need insurance, and if your backyard pool was not big enough for your boat you would need marina space. Then you would need to buy all the accessories such as clothing, sunglasses and life jackets
Less costly items were on display too, such as canoes, jet skies and wakeboards.
What intrigued me was the stand that were selling boats that looked like cars, and the stand that sold the small wooden boat.

The stands are staffed by knowledgeable people, so do not be afraid to ask questions, even if they sound silly. The staff will love sharing their boating knowledge with you.
