Riyadh to host Expo 2030

Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh has been named host city for Expo 2030, which will be staged between between 1 October 2030 and 31 March 2031.

World Expos, officially known as International Registered Exhibitions, are a global gathering of nations dedicated to ‘finding solutions to pressing challenges of our time’.

They welcome tens of millions of visitors, allow countries to build extraordinary pavilions and provide a lasting legacy for the host city.

The first World Expo, the Great Exhibition, took place in London in 1851 and the most recent took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between 2021/2022.

The next World Expo will take place in Osaka, Kansai, Japan between 13 April and 13 October 2025.

The 2030 World Expo, themed The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow, is set to significantly boost the Saudi economy and drive its Vision 2030 ambition of making tourism the second largest component of the country’s GDP.

Expo 2030 will span over 6 million square meters and feature 246 unique event participants and is projected to welcome close to 40 million site visits and over 1 billion pavilion digital visits to the planned historic metaverse pavilion.
