Major events pipeline continues to fill

2024 Crankworx World Tour's 'Paradise Edition'
Several major announcements in the past week are helping to fill the longer-term pipeline of unique and blockbuster events which will have fans and competitors flocking to Queensland for.

  • Brisbane will host Australian Swimming's most prestigious event - the 2024 National Trials, with swimmers competing for a place on the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic swimming teams. In April 2025 Brisbane will also host swimming's largest participation event, the Australian Age and Open Championships.
  • Cairns will host the 2024 Crankworx World Tour's 'Paradise Edition' in May. Crankworx is the world's highest profile mountain biking event, expected to attract almost 8,000 attendees staying 31,000 visitor nights.
  • The Brisbane International announced global tennis superstar Rafael Nadal will make his professional comeback at the Brisbane International next month, headlining an exceptional list of Australian and international talent that will have the eyes of the world on Brisbane.
  • The Australian PGA also announced they'll be back to Brisbane for the 2024 edition of one of the world's premier golfing events, in partnership with TEQ.
  • On the Gold Coast, the Australian Association of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) has announced they will host a four-day festival around the AACTA Awards in February 2024, turning the globally significant event into a multi-day opportunity for the coast.
  • The NRL has also this week released tickets for sale for their pre-season opener, the 'All Stars' match in Townsville.
