Visiting the French-style Ushiku Chateau

Ushiku Chateau
Built in 1903, Ushiku Chateau is Japan’s first full-fledged winery constructed in the style of a French chateau just an hour north of Tokyo, in Ushiku City of Ibaraki Prefecture.

This Chateau produces their wine with the grapes harvested on their own vineyard, and the 120-year-old cellar is now renovated as a restaurant, where you can now have casual French meals with wine and craft beer.

Visit the fermentation chamber of the brewery, now known as the Denbei Kamiya Memorial Hall, learn the history of Ushiku's viticulture and winemaking as you follow the footsteps of the founder, Denbei Kamiya.

You can also bring home both its wines as well as craft beer from the souvenir shop on site!
