MCEC's Five Chef's Dinner helps mark a decade with Starlight Children’s Foundation

In a night that won't soon be forgotten, the Starlight Five Chefs Dinner, proudly sponsored and hosted by Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), raised vital funds to support Starlight Children’s Foundation (Starlight).

The event, held on Thursday 25 November, raised over $600,0000 to support Starlight in delivering its vital in-hospital programs at the Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s Hospital. 34 life-changing Starlight Wishes were also granted to sick kids.

The evening also celebrated 10 years of the partnership between MCEC and Starlight helping to bring fun, joy and laughter to sick kids and their families.

The event featured a five-course degustation designed by leading Victorian chefs including: Christy Tania (Glacé), Guy Grossi (Grossi Restaurants and proud Starlight Ambassador), Benjamin Cooper (Chin Chin) and Peter Gunn (Ides).

Guests were also treated to delicious canapes and second course, showcasing the talents of MCEC’s Executive Chef, Peter Haycroft and his team of chefs, who said the evening is always a special event to host.

“Starlight’s Five Chefs Dinner has become a regular event on our calendar at MCEC, and one the team always look forward to delivering.

"The dinner not only allows our own kitchen to work with some of the country’s leading culinary experts, but it also allows us to help deliver a very special menu for a very important cause, knowing that every meal we serve contributes towards putting another smile on a sick kids face,” Mr Haycroft said.

Starlight CEO, Louise Baxter said she is grateful for the dedication, passion and continued support of MCEC in the event.

“Starlight Five Chefs Dinners are unique because almost everything on the night is generously donated; the venue, Chefs’ time and expertise, food, wine, entertainment, and auction items,” Louise said.

“This enables us to ensure that every dollar raised on the night goes directly to Starlight’s programs and brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families at a time they need it most.”
