Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido, Japan

Have you ever looked at a polar bear in the eyes? Or seen a seal swim up a clear tube?

At Asahiyama Zoo in Hokkaido, you can observe these animals from various angles not seen in other zoos.

You can walk through a tunnel of penguins and see them fly through the water, or if you visit in winter, you can even see them waddle on a little parade right among the visitors and you!

The popular zoo houses native wildlife from Hokkaido, including deer, eagles, cranes, as well as animals from around the world, like apes and big cats.
