The Shoalhaven area is an ideal spot for viewing and even engaging with beautiful whales on the humpback highway! Jervis Bay is a unique place for seeing whales as you can view the whales from inshore, which means you don’t have to go off-shore in choppy weather. From May- August the whales head north and pass by a number of spots along the coastline, yet on the way back from September to November, the mums and bubs come back south and often pop into Jervis Bay or just out from Shoalhaven beaches and learn to breach and tail slap and have heaps of fun!

The Whale Migration runs from April to July with the whales heading North. While the whales are heading north they are focused on getting to the warmer waters to breed and give birth.
They start to return from Mid-August to the end of November the whales return to Antartica, while heading South they are more relaxed and take their time.
NB - PEAK SEASON for whale watching and swimming is September to the end of October.
