Hever Castle has reopened its 28 luxury bedrooms in the Astor Wing and Anne Boleyn Wing of the castle, both Edwardian Wings and designed in Tudor style.

In addition, Medley Court is a four bedroom holiday cottage forming part of the Astor Wing that sleeps up to eight people. The ‘five star gold’ accommodation will be operating under social distancing guidelines with new safety measures in place to protect guests and staff. All guests have free access to the castle and gardens during opening hours throughout the stay.

They will also be able to explore parts of the grounds, gardens and lake walk outside of opening hours. Hever Castle was originally a medieval defensive castle built in 1270 and, in the 15th and 16th centuries it was the home to the Boleyns, one of the most powerful families at the time, who added the Tudor dwelling within the walls.

The Castle was to become the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII’s second wife, who became Queen of England for just 1,000 days. It was Henry’s love for Anne, and her insistence that she became his wife rather than his mistress, that led the King to renounce Catholicism and create the Church of England.

Hever later passed into the ownership of another of Henry VIII’s wives, Anne of Cleves. Over the centuries, the castle fell into decline before William Waldorf Astor restored the Castle, creating the ‘Astor Wing’ and the magnificent gardens and lake.
