Thua Thien – Hue receives nearly 3.4 million visitors in eight months

The central province of Thua Thien – Hue welcomed nearly 3.4 million visitors in the first eight months of this year, over 1.43 million of them were foreigners, up 8.7 percent annually.

The province earned around 3.3 trillion VND (143.4 million USD) in tourism revenue, marking a year-on-year rise of 9 percent.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre will be open free for domestic travelers, from 7am to 5pm on National Day (September 2).

A series of activities will be held on the occasion of the National Day, such as music performances at various sites, and re-enactment of royal games and activities.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dung said the province attracted about 400,000 visitors during the April 20 and May 1 holiday this year, 135,000 of them stayed overnight, up 11 percent annually.

The province is now home to seven tangible and intangible cultural heritages of humanity.
