Floriade's NightFest Brings Big Lights and Names to Canberra

When the sun goes down, NightFest comes to life for all those who dare to dabble in Floriade's dark side, returning to Commonwealth Park in Canberra from Thursday 3 October until Sunday 6 October. The illuminated playground lets visitors see Floriade's theme, World in Bloom, in a whole new light with giant interactive lighting installations, pop-up performances, markets, cuisines from around the world and more.

Open each night from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, Thursday to Saturday will feature live music on Stage 88, including The Veronicas, Busby Marou and Electric Fields, while Sunday night will see the return of everyone's favourite Comedy NightFest with back-to-back laughs featuring Urzila Carlson, Dave Hughes, Becky Lucas, Anthony Tomic, Sam Taunton, Guy Montgomery and The Stevenson Experience.

After the sun sets, the park will come alive with awe inspiring lights illuminating the flowerbeds and two interactive lighting installations, created by internationally-renowned lighting specialists, Mandylights. Set in the Rhododendron Garden, one of the installations, Framed, features a series of 20 towering picture frames, covered in thousands of pixels of LED lights which create a stunning tunnel. All set to music, this stunning display will light up Floriade in an Australian-first installation of the 60 metre long artwork.

Come early and grab some dinner from the NightFest night markets, boasting a great array of treats from local Canberran food producers, beer brewers, spirit and wine makers. You can also wander the Floriade Main Vista Village Markets.
