When you are looking for exceptional accommodation in Sydney away from the hustle and bustle of the city- yet still conveniently close, as well as a change from the similar style high rise hotels, Cremorne Point Manor is your perfect choice. A beautifully restored heritage house located in the prestigious suburb of Cremorne Point, you will find yourself being taken back into the 19th Century and leaving feeling relaxed and rejuvenated as if you weren’t ever even in the city.
The initial feeling as you first approach the manor is one of overwhelming heritage charm. The three-storey wooden manor features spacious balconies, stain-glassed windows and an abundance of old heritage features. This 29 room 4 star guesthouse immediately welcomes you for a relaxed stay, whether it be for business or pleasure.
The heritage charm only amplifies as you enter the front doors, with a beautiful staircase leading up to the 2nd floor, long hallways, elegant light fittings and finishing touches creating the 19th Century atmosphere.
We stayed in a Family Suite, offering a double room, ensuite and second room with 3 single beds (1 bunk). Unique art decorating the walls, quality linen and old-fashioned furniture and cushions all contributed to the ongoing 19th Century theme of the manor providing a comfortable, private space to relax. The rooms both included a wide-screen television, lamps, small desk and chair, as well as an open cupboard with hanging space and tea/coffee facilities and a bar fridge in the double room. This setup would be perfect for a family with children, or group requiring more than one room.
The Penthouse Suite takes up the whole top floor of Cremorne Point Manor. It is a unique and secluded sanctuary with direct & private elevator access. The luxurious two bathrooms, two bedrooms, large living room, kitchen and private balcony offer sensational panoramic Sydney Harbour views.
Various common areas include a large downstairs breakfast/dining area and outdoor courtyard. Upstairs a lounge room/reading area, a verandah and balcony furnished with comfortable seating all provide wonderful spaces to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee or read a book. The quiet atmosphere of both inside the manor as well as the suburb create a peaceful setting to promote this ‘me’ time and fosters the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Breakfast is included if you book directly through their website, so make sure you do this to enjoy the perfect start to your day. A delightful array of healthy, fresh food create an impressive spread including five different cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, berries, cheese, ham, tomato, condiments, fresh breads and even an egg steamer to boil or poach your own eggs. Combine this with freshly brewed coffee or your choice of a variety of teas whilst reading the newspaper provided, and you will be ready for whatever the day may bring!
I was surprised at just how quick and easy it was to get to Cremorne Point Manor from the city. With just a ten minute ferry from Circular Quay followed by a short 7 minute walk up the road, it truly is the perfect location to be able to enjoy what the city has to offer as well as escape and unwind away from it all after a busy day. We also took the ferry back after a night out at the theatre in the city and felt completely safe in doing so.
If you do wish to drive, the Cremorne Point Manor is a short drive off Military Road and parking is available on-site for a $25 fee. Ensure you still check out the magnificent view from the water’s edge near the wharf, especially at sunset with the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and city skyline all being lit up magically from behind. Definitely a highlight!
