Some of the nation’s leading performers have offered a glimpse into the Australian-premiere of the return season of CHICAGO, which will open in Sydney in less than a month. Set in prohibition-era America, CHICAGO is an international multi-award winning musical based on real-life events back in the roaring 1920s.
CHICAGO is the longest running American musical in Broadway and West End history and this coveted return season will start some of Australia’s best-known performers, including Natalie Bassingthwaite as Roxie Hart, Alinta Chidzey as Velma Kelly, Casey Donovan as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton and Tom Burlinson as Billy Flynn.
The razzle dazzle cast offered the media a sneak-peak of the show this week with a medley of performances including the famed “All That Jazz”, before they were joined for photos by Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres. CHICAGO is supported by the NSW Government via Destination NSW, which anticipates the return season in Sydney will generate more than $8 million for the NSW Visitor economy.
CHICAGO will open at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney on 20 August. Tickets can be purchased here.
