50th annual United Tribes Technical College International Powwow, Bismarck
This year will be the 50th year of the annual United Tribes International Powwow, held on September 6-8. One of the largest powwows in the United States and an important Native American event, around 1500 dancers and drummers dressed in cultural regalia will perform.

Eat and drink
Mezzaluna restaurant, Fargo

Mezzaluna is a great suggestion for a meal before seeing a movie at The Fargo Theatre one night. Just three minutes-walk from Fargo Theatre, this restaurant offers modern fine dining with shell-like booths, intimate lighting and chic high-top tables. The menu changes depending on the season, but dishes often include bone-in pork chop, grilled rack of lamb, pan seared swordfish, and bacon wrapped bison meatloaf. Make sure to leave time for one of their mouth-watering desserts like the lemon layer cake or almond and chocolate affogato.

Laughing Sun Brewing Company, Bismarck
If you’re heading to North Dakota’s capital city of Bismarck to see Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, or Dakota Zoo, you can unwind at the end of the day with a beer from Laughing Sun Brewing Company. Created in 2012, this brewery features a 110-seat tap room, huge patio, and a 20-barrel brewhouse. It is a local favourite with regular musical performances on their stage and vibrant work from local artists lining the walls. This lively atmosphere is the perfect place to enjoy their diverse range of beers including Golden Ale, American-Style Wheat Beer, Belgian Golden Strong Ale, Rye Stout, Coffee Black Ale, and India Pale Ale just to name a few. Their food is just as delicious with BBQ smoked meats, sandwiches, nachos, and bowls of curries, soups, and salads.
Local's tip: Be sure to head for a nightcap at the hidden cool speakeasy nearby (we'll leave you to find your way there as part of the fun).
