Meet Verdi’s greatest creation: Rigoletto

Rigoletto
There’s more to Rigoletto than ‘La donna è mobile’, that impossibly catchy tune you know from a million pasta ads. There’s a playboy, a prankster, an assassin and a girl (there’s always a girl). There’s plenty of glamour, good times and a dark and dangerous undercurrent. And there’s some of the greatest music ever written.

This is an opera worth diving into, even if you’ve never dipped your toe into the heady waters of live opera. If you’ve seen it before, you’ll know it’s worth a return visit. Even Verdi believed it was his greatest creation, and given the man wrote the world’s most popular opera, he should know.

Our Fellini-inspired production comes to the Sydney Opera House this August, with its sumptuous set and scene-stealing car, along with a seriously impressive cast.

What's on next?
A thriller, a grand classic, a beautiful tragedy and an outrageous comedy: with four very different operas on stage this season, four incredible nights out are waiting for you.
