New multi-pass pool scheme for students

Muswellbrook Shire Council have launched a pilot program to increase access to pool facilities for school-aged children in the Muswellbrook Shire.

THE 30 FOR $30 MULTI-PASS FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE UNTIL 15 FEBRUARY 2016, AND EXPIRES AT THE END OF THE YEAR

The new program is only available for school-aged children living in the Muswellbrook Shire.

’30 for $30’ entry passes can be purchased from Muswellbrook and Denman Aquatic Centres until 15 February 2016, and are valid until the end of December 2016.

The pilot program was one of a number of recommendations made to Council by the Shire Aquatic Centre Review Committee – which consisted of councillors, staff officers and members of the community.

Council’s General Manager, Mr Steve McDonald, said in relation to the program: “Council was impressed with the work of the Committee and its recommendation to trial a number of new initiatives to increase aquatic centre attendances. Ultimately the success of the program will be determined by the number of school-aged children whose parents take up the opportunity of purchasing the 30 for $30 passes. If the majority of school-age children purchase a pass, it will not only increase participation at the aquatic centres but also lower the entry fee for all. At the moment the pool is heavily subsidised by ratepayers rather than by pool entrants. If we can increase the number of people visiting the pool, it keeps prices down for all. Council hopes the response from the pilot program will be very positive.”
