Dubbo will receive a boost in tourism and its local visitor economy when the National Junior Indoor Cricket Championships will be held in the city for the first time next year.
The event is expected to attract more than 500 visitors and deliver more than $500,000 to the region in visitor expenditure.
Secured by the NSW Government through Destination NSW this is the first time the event has ever been held in a regional location.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the event would attract more than 30 teams across six divisions, and continues the Government’s success in attracting major events to regional areas.
“The Championships join a long list of major events secured by the NSW Government for Regional NSW, which this year includes events such as the Touch Football World Cup in Coffs Harbour, Ironman Port Macquarie, Australian Little League Baseball Championships in Lismore, XTERRA in Jervis Bay and many more.”
The National Indoor Cricket Championships will be held from 1-6 July 2016 at Dubbo Sportsworld.
