Port Stephens will again play host to the four-day, international-status 2015 Port to Port mountain bike race, which will begin at the Nelson Bay marina on Thursday, May 28, 2015.
The fun and challenging race will offer riders of all levels an exhilarating ride through three distinct regions – Port Stephens, the Hunter Valley and Newcastle. With 2014’s inaugural event attracting more than 300 riders from across Australia and overseas, the event is again expected to bring many cyclists and their friends and family to the coastal region.
Riders can enter one of the three categories: Open (those between 15 and 39 years of age), Masters (those over 40) and Elite (for experienced and professional mountain bike riders).
Day one of racing begins at Nelson Bay Marina in the heart of Port Stephens at 11.30pm on Thursday May 28. Riders will tackle some of Port Stephens’ many forest trails through Tomaree National Park, some steep, sandy trails and scrub forest, before passing by the seaside on the way to the finish line. 2015’s event will see the course extending to more trails in the national park, bringing the first day’s distance up to 38km.
