Peru to showcase its ancient past at ATM 2015

The Trade, Tourism and Investment Office of Peru in Dubai has confirmed its presence at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2015 for the third consecutive year with leading Peruvian travel specialists set to participate under its national pavilion.

Peru is a privileged tourist destination worldwide, ranked by Ernst & Young within the top ten world places preferred for their authenticity, art and culture, history and natural beauty, in addition to the famous tourist places of Machu Picchu and the Amazon, declared World Heritage Sites.

In 2014, the country welcomed 3.2 million tourists with the Ministry of Trade and Tourism in Peru forecasting up to eight million by 2021.

Named as a ‘gastronomic superpower’ by the Financial Times, Peru has earned the distinction of being recognized as the World’s Leading Culinary Destination at the World Travel Awards for the last three years. More than 42% of surveyed visitors mentioned that its cuisine is an important influencer in choosing Peru as a vacation destination.

“Peru has been gaining tremendous ground as a tourism hotspot in the last few years, and is a consistently top-ranking destination for travelers,” said Alvaro Silva Santisteban, Director of the Trade, Tourism and Investment Office of Peru in the UAE.

“Indeed, two of the country’s hotels made it onto the top ten best hotels worldwide according to TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice 2015, and Cusco is currently ranked 16th on the Travelers’ Choice Destinations 2015 listing –sharing the same list with Dubai ” he added.

The two hotels making the TripAdvisor grade this year are the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco (5th), and the Tambo Del Inka, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, located in Urubamba, Cusco (10th).

Located on the central west coast of South America, Peru is a magical destination, one of the richest biodiversity countries on Earth and a colorful mosaic of different cultures. Peru is steeped in over 10,000 years of history, travelers to Peru can therefore explore some of the most important historic monuments of South America, including the world-renowned Machu Picchu, which is now counted as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
