Brisbane to delight the tastebuds with regional flavours

Feast on the very best that Queensland has to offer when Brisbane’s signature food and lifestyle festival, Regional Flavours Presented by The Courier-Mail, returns to South Bank in July.

Now in its seventh year, the event promises an impressive line-up of celebrity chefs, industry experts and more than 80 of Queensland’s top food and wine producers on the weekend of 18-19 July.

The partnership with The Courier-Mail will see a new and exciting event introduced to the festival this year. Queensland Taste Presented by The Courier-Mail is set to indulge wine-lovers while providing an immersive, quintessential tasting experience, showcasing the best of our state’s food, wine and live music scene.

Mouth-watering produce from 13 farming regions in Queensland will be on show in the Producer Showcase. Held on Little Stanley Street and its adjacent lawns, head along to sample decadent chocolates, creamy cheeses and other fresh produce, while meeting some of Queensland’s best providores.

Australia’s best chefs and celebrity cooks will reveal their secrets as they create tantalising dishes at the EAT-SHOW-TELL stage in The Courier-Mail Piazza Presented by The Courier-Mail, Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD, V-ZUG, Network TEN & goa. Taking on Master of Ceremonies is Miguel Maestre from Network TEN’s The Living Room, who will also be joined on stage by Matt Preston from Network TEN’s MasterChef Australia and Paul West from River Cottage Australia airing on Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD. A big screen overhead will allow the audience to see up close the techniques and detail in the dishes. Visitors will also have the opportunity to buy their favourite recipe books, with celebrities on hand to sign them. Hot tip, arrive early to secure a seat.

Meat and malt lovers can once again head to charming pop-up brasserie The Hunting Club, Presented by Target 100 & Live Fire. Learn the art of slow and fast-cooking beef and lamb. Extending beyond the brisket is the chance to taste-test craft brews as beer experts share their passion and knowledge. Brisbane beer guru Matt Kirkegaard will host demonstrations and brew appreciation sessions.

For the first time in the festival’s history, South Bank’s edible Epicurious Garden will feature in the two-day packed event. River Cottage Australia at the Epicurious Garden, Presented by Foxtel’s LifeStyle FOOD, will inspire visitors on the farm-to-table concept. Paul West, from River Cottage Australia, will be in the garden to share his knowledge. Learn how to grow an organic veggie garden and other produce.

Visitors can also kick back with friends along the Brisbane River surrounded by pop-up dining and entertainment at River Quay. River Quay, Presented by eatSouthBank, will be abuzz with the soothing sounds of home-grown musicians and delectable delights from the area’s trendy restaurants.

Taste buds can be further delighted as festival-goers follow the grazing route along Little Stanley Street, where a fleet of gourmet food trucks serve up tasty bites and delicious snacks. The eatSouthBank Food Trucks will serve up eats and treats at $8 a pop.

And if you need to rest your feet, soak up the sunshine and relax with family and friends, kick back on a rug and enjoy al fresco-inspired fare at The Picnic Patch Presented by the Lockyer Valley Region. Set to satiate the appetites of all picnic lovers, The Picnic Patch will showcase the very best of Lockyer Valley produce.
