Vivid Sydney Pop-Ups Set to Tantalise Tastebuds

Vivid Sydney is taking the theme of creativity beyond light, music and ideas with an impressive line-up of bespoke dining experiences, especially tailored for visitors to this year's festival.

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said, “Vivid Sydney set to once again delight audiences from across the globe with Sydney's hippest purveyors of food and beverage presenting a stellar program of pop-ups created for festivalgoers. With so much to choose from, foodies can even plan their own Vivid Sydney dining trail. It's the perfect addition for a night out at Vivid Sydney.”

MARTIN PLACE

Created by leading new media artist Joe Crossley, Transcendence in Martin Place is set to wow visitors with its nightly light shows and gourmet fare, with a mouth-watering line-up of restaurants including Porteño, Thievery, Agape Organic, Cantina Movil, Tsuru and the world-renowned Cow and the Moon, calling the venue home during Vivid Sydney.

Argentine aficionados Porteño are bringing their famed restaurant into the heart of the city and diners can expect a menu featuring roast pork sandwiches with BBQ savoy slaw & special sauce along with a spiced lamb sausage sandwich with BBQ peppers & chimichurri.

The city's best street food is also coming to Transcendence. The team from Glebe's hottest new restaurant, Thievery, will present an enticing menu of Lebanese street food while Tsuru is serving up Asian street fare including its signature dish, the pork belly bun, a Balinese lemongrass chicken roll and chips laden with Tsuru's signature seasoned salt. In addition, Agape Organic, Cantina Movil and Bite Size Delights diners will be spoilt for choice with tasty treats.

For those with a sweet tooth, Gelato World Tour Champions, Cow and the Moonfrom Sydney's inner west will pair the unique flavours of their award winning almond affogato flavour with a hand crafted selection of single origin espresso, which is sure to impress coffee lovers.

CENTRAL PARK

The inner west will be celebrated with a pop–up from the Newtown Hotel which will be perched on Level 3 of Central Park's Living Mall. With views of the nightly projections from Reko Rennie and Beastman and a curated live entertainment program, this bar is set to be a must-visit during Vivid Sydney. The eclectic entertainment line-up will take visitors on a journey throughout music history through live performances, visuals and DJ sets.

Central Park will also be hosting Night Markets with stalls from The Wienery, Guzman y Gomez, Gelatissimo, Fogo Brazilia Churrasco, Ribs and Burgers and more.

MODULATIONS AT CARRIAGEWORKS

Four rock stars of Sydney's Italian restaurant scene are joining forces to present ITALO DINING AND DISCO CLUB, a world-class food and a music experience bringing good vibes to Modulations at Carriageworks. Over six evenings, celebrated restaurants Icebergs Dining Room & Bar, Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta, Fratelli Paradiso and 10williamst will present Italian specialities and natural wines, paired with entertainment from internationally renowned and locally respected Italian disco legends.

CHATSWOOD

Chatswood has created two bespoke venues for visitors to Vivid Sydney. The 4 Pines Rooftop Bar and Night Markets at The Concourse will feature locally crafted 4 Pines beer and a variety of selected wines with casual food offerings in a family-friendly designed space, including a sandpit for the kids. Nearby, the Cabana Bar is anelegant space with a range of craft cocktails and wine. While visiting, stop by Chatswood Chase Sydney to taste delicacies from the centre combined with the electrifying beats of a pop-up DJ. Nearby, sample the many offerings at the new dining precinct, The District at Chatswood Interchange including Michelin-starred eatery Tim Ho Wan.

CIRCULAR QUAY

During Vivid Sydney, the Sydney Opera House's precinct will be home to Vivid LIVE-inspired menus and late-night live music with Opera Bar, Opera Kitchenand The House Eatery all perfectly positioned for prime viewing of the light displays, illuminated sails and the Harbour. This year, the Sydney Opera House will also host its first pop-up indoor harbour-view bar, situated in the Concert Hall Northern Foyer – creating a dynamic festival atmosphere and destination bar for all visitors inside the House.

Set in the heart of the festival's light walk, the MCA Café will open until 9pm each night during Vivid Sydney presenting lights and delights. With the rooftop terrace offering one of the best vantage points in town, overlooking the Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay and Harbour Bridge, winter treats will be in demand with banoffee pie, a strawberry and passionfruit pavlova and a spiced apple and rhubarb crumble on the menu alongside a special “glow in the dark” cocktail.

In The Rocks, the precinct's renowned cafes, restaurants and bars including TheArgyle, The Push and Waterfront Restaurant are offering special Vivid Sydney menus and visitors can also shop under the stars for eclectic, speciality wares at The Rocks Vivid Night Markets.

DARLING HARBOUR, PYRMONT & THE STAR

In Darling Harbour, visitors are spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink, thanks to the many fantastic restaurants, bars, cafes and clubs at Cockle Bay Wharf, Harbourside Shopping Centre, IMAX Theatre Complex and Darling Quarter.

Nearby, cotton candy, popcorn, coffee, hot chocolate, chocolate fountain, crepes are just some of the Vivid Treats on offer at The Star's pop-up festival dessert bar. The Vivid Lounge at Sky Terrace will be open every evening to all age groups from 6pm until late serving specials from The Star's signature restaurants, BLACK by ezard, Balla, Sokyo, Fat Noodle and Momofuku.

UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY

The front lawns of the University of Sydney will host night markets during Vivid Path to The Future. Each night from (from 25 May – 31 May), HostCo will be serving up shredded beef nachos, pulled pork burgers and eight hour stewed beef pie floaters. Festivalgoers can also visit the Little Creatures Craft Beer barwhich will be serving White Rabbit craft beers as well as cider and mulled wine.

Owned and managed by the NSW Government's tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, Vivid Sydney is set to once again transform the city into a colourful canvas of light, music and ideas for 18 nights from 22 May to 8 June.
