Malaysia’s Penang expects 5.7% increase in tourist arrivals in 2015

With Malaysia assuming the chair of ASEAN next year, Tourism Malaysia’s Penang chapter is expecting a 5.7 per cent increase in tourist arrivals.

Its director Harun Pilus said as of September, more that 3.8 million tourists arrived in Penang via air and sea and that the target for this year was 5.5 million tourist arrivals.

He said this when welcoming 40 members of the print and electronic media for the Penang-level Media Friends for Visit Malaysia Year 2014 programme in George Town.

The three days, two nights programme is to familiarise the media with major Penang attractions like Penang War Museum, Penang National Park, Penang Escape Theme Park, Penang Hop-On Hop-Off City Tour, Tour Penang Museum Trail and Penang Trick Art Museum.
