CRICKET WORLD CUP BATS FOR BOWRAL

Bowral welcomed the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup Trophy and the Home Ground Cricket Tour last weekend ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

NSW Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Troy Grant was joined in Bowral by Member for Wollondilly Jai Rowell and former Australian cricketer Andy Bichel, who took part in clinics and activities with local cricketers.

NSW will play a major part in the staging of the World Cup, with the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) hosting three pool matches including South Africa v West Indies, Australia v Sri Lanka, England v Afghanistan, as well as quarter and semi-final matches.

“The World Cup is just around the corner, and it is great to see the tournament being promoted in regional areas through the ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour and the Home Ground Cricket Tour,” Mr Grant said.

“I encourage cricket fans in regional areas to book their tickets early to see major cricketing nations go head-to-head at the SCG from February.

“Cricket plays a vital role in regional communities like Bowral, and it is nice to see local cricketers taking part in games and clinics today.

“With the tournament just a month or so away, it was also exciting to see the World Cup Trophy.”

As part of the tour local cricketers participated in drills and games run by Cricket NSW, viewed ICC Cricket World Cup memorabilia from the Bradman Museum, watched test cricket on the big screen and posed for photos with the ICC Cricket World Cup.
