The leading business to business tourism event in Africa, WTM Africa 2015, has been extended to a three-day event, after the massively successful inaugural show. The inaugural event gathered almost 4,000 industry professionals negotiate deals worth $314 million (£189 million).
WTM Africa was launched in Cape Town in spring 2014 as a two-day event and immediately recognized itself as the top B2B tourism event in Africa. After the success of WTM Africa 2014 – and in response to demand among exhibitors and visitors – the event has been extended by a full day in to a three-day event.
The 2015 show will again take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 15th -17th April. WTM Africa 2015 exhibition floor space will be 50% larger because of increased interest from both private and public sector companies around the world looking to take part.
The extended WTM Africa will include an enlarged Events programme which will include the International Conference on Responsible Tourism in Destinations – bringing together travel companies, organisations and individuals interested in mainstreaming sustainable practices in the travel industry.
According to WTM Africa Exhibition Manager, Sheree Simpson, “WTM Africa 2014 attracted exhibitors from all over Africa and beyond, and is the only tradeshow of its kind on the African continent to focus on inbound and outbound travel, resulting in $314 million of travel industry deals. The 2015 edition of WTM Africa will see a greater number of business deals and amount of business conducted over the event’s three days.”
From April 15-17 2015, the second WTM Africa takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), and it is one of three events that make up Africa Travel Week, with IBTM Africa and ILTM Africa taking place on 13 – 15 April.
WTM Africa in Cape Town, South Africa draws above 3,000 of the most senior executives interested in the African travel industry. WTM Africa is part of Reed Travel Exhibition’s WTM Portfolio of events, which also includes World Travel Market, Arabian Travel Market and World Travel Market Africa. £314 million of new business was conducted at the inaugural event in 2014 between almost 400 exhibitors and almost 300 buyers, thanks in part to 5,353 pre-scheduled business appointments. WTM is owned by the worldʼs leading events organiser Reed Exhibitions.
