Celebrate Australia Day in the Historic Macarthur Region

A huge carnival with fireworks, a free barbecue breakfast and a thong throwing competition are among the many Australia Day activities that will be held at three locations in the historic Macarthur region – the birthplace of Australian agriculture and wine production – on Monday, January 26.

Camden – From 8am to 1pm, John St in Camden will host free activities including a BBQ breakfast, face painting, jumping castle, animal displays, live music, Australian-themed market stores and a thong-throwing competition theme. Then at 9.30am, an official Australia Day service will be held at the Camden Civic Centre including a civic awards and citizenship ceremony. The Macarthur Lions Street Parade will then be held at Argyle St from 11.15am, with many community groups taking part.

Campbelltown – An official ceremony will take place from 8am to 10am in Koshigaya Park. Then from 4pm to 9.30pm, the park will host a jam-packed evening of entertainment, featuring carnival rides, live music, market stalls, a huge fireworks display at 9pm and the Macarthur Talent Showcase, an opportunity for aspiring performers to take the main stage.

Ingleburn – 11am-2pm – Activities include Australia Day Awards, Citizenship Ceremony, free games and activities for kids, morning tea and BBQ. Held at The Greg Percival Community Centre and Hallinan Park, Ingleburn.
