Strathfield Food Festival Celebrates Asian Cuisine

Strathfield Square will be transformed into a food hub this Sunday 23 October 2011 for a food extravaganza, as part of the Crave Sydney International Food Festival. Celebrating 'Asian Fusion', the Strathfield Food Festival will bring the best tastes from the best restaurants, with live cooking demonstrations, competitions and the launch of the Strathfield Good Food Guide.

Strathfield is a suburb of Sydney NSW Australia. The Festival will take place in the Strathfield Square, which is located immediately outside the Strathfield train station (southern side).

Celebrating Asian Fusion, the Strathfield Food Festival will bring the best tastes of Asian cuisines onto the streets of Strathfield for a day long festival of food.

The Crave Sydney International Food Festival is an annual event in October and celebrates all things great about Sydney's food and eating scene.

Crave Sydney International Food Festival director Joanna Savill will join the Strathfield Food Festival on October 23.

Strathfield Food Festival welcomes Seoul of Sydney
The Strathfield Food Festival is proud to feature Seoul of Sydney chefs presentations in the demonstration kitchen. Seoul of Sydney is a collective born with a promise to improve Korean cuisine and to show off what Korean food is all about. Seoul of Sydney is about the balance between old school traditions and new school creativity. Seoul of Sydney isn't just about the Korean BBQ and kimchi. Seoul of Sydney will feature their Korean cooking tips in the demonstration kitchen at the Strathfield Food Festival at 11am and 1pm – don't miss their insights into cooking with tofu.

Strathfield welcomes Korean chef Chung Jae Lee
Chung Jae Lee moved to Australia from South Korea almost 20 years ago in pursuit of becoming a pilot and to practised his love and talent in judo. It was his dedication and perfection of judo that got Chung Jae where he is today as a successful chef and multi-award winning restaurateur. Chung Jae Lee opened Mapo in Gouger Street (the main eating hub of Adelaide) in 2002 and continued to develop his unique cuisine mainly Korean based but also influenced by other countries. Mapo's signature dish at is the coffee pork spare ribs which always has the customers wanting more. Chung Jae focuses on bringing local ingredients into his South Korean dishes with a lot of hints from his mum – an exquisite presentation.

Since 2002, Chung Jae has featured with Maeve O'Meara on Food Safari, appeared on KBS Korea, spoke at a food conference in South Korea and has taken out again the "2011 Best Asian Restaurant" in the prestigious Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence, Lifestyle Food "State Champion" for Flavours of the World and Best Korean Restaurant. Chung Jae is currently writing his own cookbook where you can read about Korean culture and of course some of his personal recipes. Don't miss Chung Jae Lee's cooking demonstrations in the demo kitchen at 12pm and 2pm.
