New in Sonoma County: Five Fresh Experiences to Discover in Wine Country

Taste Petaluma
Sonoma County continues to reinvent the California Wine Country experience, combining its celebrated vineyards and farm-to-table traditions with new culinary destinations, cultural attractions and outdoor adventures.

For travellers planning a Sonoma County getaway, these five new and upcoming experiences offer fresh reasons to explore beyond the region's famous wineries.

Taste Petaluma: Wine, Spirits and Sweet Indulgence

Downtown Petaluma has welcomed Taste Petaluma, a new destination bringing together four local concepts under one roof.

Created by Mike and Lorraine Barber, the experience combines Barber Cellars, Petaluma Cheese Shop, Barber Lee Spirits and Nightcap Dessert Bar within the Barber Lee Spirits distillery on Washington Street.

Visitors can sample Sonoma County wines by the glass or flight, enjoy cocktails featuring Barber Lee spirits and pair their drinks with artisan cheeses, locally made chocolates and desserts.

The relaxed industrial-chic setting is designed for lingering, making Taste Petaluma an appealing addition to Petaluma's food and drink scene.

Heritage Apple Press: Preserving Sonoma's Apple Tradition

Heritage Apple Press
A new chapter is also beginning for Sonoma County's historic apple-growing industry.

Gold Ridge Organic Farms is opening Heritage Apple Press, a 20,000-square-foot organic apple-processing facility in Santa Rosa for the 2026 harvest season.

Designed to support small and family-owned farms throughout Sonoma County and Northern California, the facility will be capable of processing up to 80 tons of fruit each day for fresh-packed apples, juice, cider, vinegar and custom pressing.

The project provides local growers with valuable processing infrastructure while helping preserve heritage apple varieties, including the famous Gravenstein.

Lori Austin Gallery at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn

Lori Austin Gallery
Art lovers have another reason to visit Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa with the arrival of the Lori Austin Gallery at the Fairmont.

Curated by Sonoma County gallerist Lori Austin, this new pop-up gallery presents an evolving collection of contemporary paintings by regional artists.

The gallery provides guests with an opportunity to connect with the creativity and artistic character of Sonoma County while staying at one of the region's renowned Wine Country resorts.

Redwood Aerial Adventure: Take to the Treetops

Redwood Aerial Adventure
Adventure seekers can look forward to Redwood Aerial Adventure, an ambitious new attraction from Sonoma Zipline Adventures anticipated to open in spring 2027.

The 40,000-square-foot ropes and challenge course will be set among a forested hillside and feature 17 aerial challenges, four sky bridges, four traverse elements and four routes designed for different ability levels.

A continuous safety system will allow participants to navigate above a creek and redwood valley, while the most advanced route will finish with a rappel to the forest floor.

A separate netted play area will provide younger children with their own treetop challenges, making the attraction suitable for families, corporate retreats and educational groups.

Sonoma County Keeps Evolving

These new Sonoma County experiences demonstrate how the destination continues to blend agriculture, food, wine, art, nature and adventure.

Whether sampling local produce in Petaluma, discovering regional artists, learning about heritage apples or climbing through the redwoods, visitors can experience a different side of Sonoma County while connecting with the people and businesses that make the region distinctive.

For travellers seeking new things to do in Sonoma County, Wine Country has plenty of fresh experiences waiting to be discovered.
