Meet Ross Cummings: The Scottish Elvis at the Parkes Elvis Festival

Ross Cummings
Hailing from Greenock, a quaint town 40 minutes from Glasgow, Ross Cummings has taken the Elvis tribute scene by storm. Known as the “Scottish Elvis,” this dynamic performer will grace the Cooke Park Main Stage during the 2025 Parkes Elvis Festival, bringing his unique blend of charisma and passion to one of Australia’s most beloved celebrations of the King of Rock and Roll.

From Builder to Elvis Impersonator

Ross Cummings wasn’t always an Elvis fan. Although he grew up with Elvis’ music playing in the background, thanks to his father and grandfather, it wasn’t until 2017 that he truly discovered his love for the King. A visit to the Parkes Elvis Festival that year changed everything. “I was hooked,” Cummings recalls. “The whole train journey back to Sydney, I was watching Elvis YouTube clips. From then on, I couldn’t stop listening to him.”

Now living in Sydney with his wife Kelly and their three young children, Cummings balances his life as a busy business owner with his passion for Elvis. His dedication to the craft has earned him a loyal fan base and a reputation as one of the festival’s standout performers.

Honoring the King’s Scottish Roots

One of the unique aspects of Ross’ tribute is his celebration of Elvis’ Scottish heritage. After learning that Elvis’ bloodline traces back to Scotland in 1743 and that the King once stopped at Glasgow’s Prestwick Airport while en route to Germany, Cummings felt a connection he couldn’t ignore. “I had no choice but to create tartan jumpsuits in memory of the King of Rock and Roll,” he says.

With his tartan-themed outfits, Ross brings a distinctive flair to his performances, combining Elvis’ iconic style with a nod to his own Scottish heritage. This innovation led to the birth of the “Scottish Elvis,” a persona that has captivated audiences worldwide.

A Rising Star
Ross Cummings

Since his first foray into Elvis impersonation, Ross has made remarkable strides. He has performed on the Elvis Express train, at the Parkes Bowls and Sports Club, and at the Elvis Worldwide Dinner Show alongside tribute artists from Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. Each performance showcased his dedication to delivering the passion and energy that Elvis’ music deserves.

“Whether it’s good, bad, or indifferent, I enjoy doing it,” Ross says. “You’re not performing in the mirror; you’re performing for people, so you want them to be happy and enjoying it.”

Challenges and Triumphs

Like many performers, Ross has faced his fair share of challenges. He admits that applying his wig with glue and double-sided tape, along with the makeup routine, is no easy feat. However, his dedication to his craft is unwavering. “All the boys at work used to slag me about it,” he laughs, “but now they’ve seen me perform, and the jokes have stopped.”

His hard work has paid off. Ross’ voice, playful persona, and unique style have won him countless fans, with festival-goers eagerly stopping him for photos and expressing their admiration. “He’s ultra-charismatic, friendly, and very sexy,” says one of his fans.

Beyond the Stage

Ross’ contributions extend beyond his performances. In 2023, he walked 130km for men’s mental health, raising over $20,000 for charity. His dedication to supporting important causes reflects his kind-hearted nature and commitment to making a difference.
